Catherine Hammerton

Catherine Hammerton is an award winning paper artist based in Wales and best known for her botanical sculptures inspired by common lands reimagined from childhood. Using wild flora as visual metaphors, her work examines matrilineal lineages, our sense of community and belonging – hiraeth – alongside plant lore traditionally shared by women.

Catherine’s work is regularly showcased at prestigious exhibitions and events, like the Royal Academy London and Royal Scottish Academy Edinburgh, and has recently been supported with a Wales Arts Council Create Award for R&D.
